I recently set up a second Active Directory server for my small business. I have DNS set up on it, as well as Active directory, and both have been verified as working. However, when I turn off the primary AD server, it takes all the computers in my network about 10 minutes to realize...
Another tip: I recently did a similar thing to a poweredge server. You will need drivers from dell if your server has a Dell PERC RAID controller in it. I'd contact Dell to find the location of them.

I am planning on creating a second Active Directory server on my current mail server (running exchange 5.5). However, I noticed that in the first step of dcpromo, it says that it will delete all local accounts. Will this delete the exchange administrator account, and therefor screw up...
dcpromo is it? I've read about using that, but I wasn't sure if that was the only step... seems too easy. But, if I run DCPROMO, set the server to be on an existing domain, and answer all of the wizard questions correctly, it will automatically copy settings and whatnot?
