Well got going with this today and one problem did slip past me that I am stuggling with a little now. Oye..
Got hotmail blocked no problem, redirect to warning message. What I had overlooked though was sending email to hotmail from our exchange server... Our mail is bounced through a...
Well I got hotmailblocked now, just need to block all the others. I am sure there are going to be lots of holes around this (as mentioned already using IP) such as using international sites and whatnot, but my userbase is not to technical and hopefully this will work.
Thanks for the code Mark...
Anyone able to help here? I spent some time yesterday developing GPO's to block messengers, now I just need to find a way to block hotmail etc.
What about putting fake entries in DNS.. Would something like this work?
Any ways using available tools in Group Policies or otherwise to block users in our organization from accessing specific websites. Ideally managment wants to block all webmail type sites (Hotmail, gmail, yahoo etc) along with some other key sites as well. Anyone know of a way to do this?

I dug around with fairly similiar requirements not to long ago and ended up going with FaxMaker from GFI. You can get a 60 day trial from them (usually 2 or 3 times) so its easy to test out and make sure it fits your requirements.
The software is pretty straight forward. It can tie in with...
Star for Pannivas on this. The link provided got rid of this problem for me. Well mostly. It provided enough insight to figure out the solution.
I had SUS and WSUS installed on the same server. In IIS I had stopped the default webpage and had SUS running on port 80.
To resolve this issue I...
Troubleshooting these issues can be a bit difficult. You have to make sure the users and computers have access to read the GPO's. You have to makes sure you give the computers time enough to download them. You also need to insurethere is no other policies that might conflict.
All that said...
Yes..... Auditing is exactly what I am trying to accomplish. The NTFS comes up as the users have exclusive rights to there profile directories all the tools seem to fail when you try and get info about these directories.
Make sense? I hope!

I believe it would try and install it again as PSC has stated. It should stop once it figures out that it is already installed though. This might be a good place to try out WMI filters so that SP2 is only applied to computers that are SP1 or lower.
I have not tried WMI filters before but it...
Hey Folks,
Seems like a simple question but I have not been able to figure out despite googling it to death. Anyways here goes...
I need to find out the diretory size of folders where NTFS permisions are set for only user access. EG. Profiles.

Thanks for the reply Znetbiz.. I ended up posting the question on an MS newsgroup and someone nailed it this morning. As it turns out it is being caused by a smarthost configured on the orginal Exchange Server. I have turned off the smart host and everythign is grand now. I would like to...
Hey folks.. Lost hear and would love some insight!
Up until tonight we have been running Exchange 2000 Standard on Win 2000 server.
I have now implemented a new server, Windows 2003, and Exchange 2003 Enterprise. The install went problem free and everything seemed good.
I have now moved a few...
This migration should be a lot easier then your last one from 5.5 to 2003.
The easiest way to do this is to simple set up the new server (really the old one but we will call it new) with Win2003, install Exchange 2003 then join the existing organization. Once this is done, you can re-home you...
Hey Rw...
Regarding your questions...
1 - 4: Generally it is recommended that you do not install Exchange on a Domain Controller. If your existing Exchange server is also a domain controller you will need to insure that you have another DC up and running before you remove this server. If the...
Thanks TruBlu... I guess you are right, always nice to see the step by step though to insure things go smooooothly! The only area I am really concerned about would be the decommision of the old server.
Anyways I did find this article...
Hey folks... Thanks for taking the time to read/help out!
I have a Win2k AD (2 DC's), and Exch2k running on Windows 2000. I am in the midst of ordering a new Server and Exchange 2003 and I am trying to plan the migration.
As best I can tell the migration will go something like this
