Thanks for the tips on the phaser 740. I checked the imaging unit and eventually found some scratches that matched the exact position and shape of my problem printout. Looks like a new imaging unit. I suppose its a daft question to ask if you can get the parts or is it the full product...
I am all for distance learning since we have adopted it at our college.
It has several advantages that benefit the students and staff and college funding.
During a normal lesson, using an interactive whiteboard, you can actually call up the web site and conduct your pre-arranged lesson and add...
The printer I have is okay but for the top of the paper that has a multi-coloured smear. It comes in the same place each time. It is about 5mm and happens in three places, same patern, same colours.
I have cleaned, checked for any deposits etc but to no avail
Any help appreciated.
I have a phaser 740. Just sorted out a couple of problems. Really need the manual. Anyone know where to get it in UK?

Clean the bottom end with IPA. Then stick it back in upside down because you are now using new end. It has worked for me...
an Epson Stylus pro which I cleaned up because it was refusing to print. I discovered the battery at the rear which is a CR 2032. This was down to one volt. I changed that and now it refuses to start up and give the "data" light flashing. I have found no reference to this battery...
