Foreign Languages and datatype conversion

First, a little background info. I'm using a survey software package that stores all of the collected data in a SQL Server DB. Text fields are stored as datatypes "text" and "varchar" depending on how many characters I want to allow for a particular question. We are in the process of...

    Counting and Charts

Yeeeehaawwww!!!!! Man, oh, man. Thank you soooo much. This has definitely been an uphill battle. And I couldn't have won without your help. Sheesh, I hope I don't struggle this much the rest of the way trying to learn this program. I don't need another ulcer....hehehe. I also can't...

    Counting and Charts

Ok...almost there. I'm beginning to feel like what I want to do can't be done. I hope I'm wrong. I've got the formula you supplied to work properly. Indeed, it's only counting the 2 and 3's (I'd been calling them 4 and 5's but they're really 2 and 3's) The last issue I'm still having is...

PowerPoint Experts -- Can this be done?

Can this be done? I'd like to be able to create PowerPoint presentations in a batch style process, populating many of the slides in the presentation based on information pulled from either a database, spreadsheet, or text file. I would like for the process to be as automated as possible. I...

    Counting and Charts

Noxum, Thank you. You seem to be steering me in the right direction, but I wonder if you could clarify what you've suggested. I'm a little unsure of some of what you have in the formula you suggest. Could you be a little more specific in your explanation of the formula. Thanks again.

    Counting and Charts

Slowly but surely... If I select "discard all others" on the other tab, indeed, my chart only shows the 4 and 5's group, but I want it to show the percentage of that group compared to all the responses. Of the people who answered that question, 70% of them answered 4 or 5. But...

    Counting and Charts

I can suppress the numbers I don't want to show in the details section of the report but they still show up in my chart. Is there someway to suppress the numbers you don't want to see in the chart the way you suppress them in the details section? Or alternatively, is there a way to define a...

    Counting and Charts

Alright...now I'm getting somewhere. Thank you, thank you, thank you. A couple more questions if you don't mind. The graph I have is showing all the groups. I'd like to only show the 4's and 5's group on the chart. I'm not sure how to hide the data for the other numbers. I've poked around...

    Counting and Charts

I'm only interested in graphing the one question right now. There will be other questions I want to graph but I figured I need to learn to crawl before I walk.

    Counting and Charts

Wow. Seems like a lot of us Crystal newbies are having issues with counting. Well here's my problem. I hope some of you smarter people can help me with this. I have a report field named {Respondent.q1}. The possible values in that field are 1,2,3,4, or 5. These numbers represent the...

using Pagemaker trying to export PDF file to Adobe Acrobat

Acrobat uses acrobat distiller - a simulated printer - to create adobe .PDF files. For most users distiller is operating "behind the scenes", i.e., you don't directly interface with it. In order to export your pagemaker document as a .pdf file I pretty sure you gonna have to have the...

    Variable Scope

...well good. At least I know I'm not going crazy. From the background I have in programming it just seemed counter intuative to have to redeclare a GLOBAL variable in every formula I used it in. But if that's the way it's done in Crystal than I'll just have to get used to doing it that way.

    Variable Scope

By default, I beleive that any variables declared in Crystal are considered "Global" in scope, meaning they are accessible anywhere in the main report. So I should be able to decalre a global vairable in one formula, and another fourmula will be able to use the contents placed in the...

Change Text to bold in formula

Hi. I have the following formula: -------------------------------------------------- numberVar validityDivisor := 4; Global numberVar validityAmount := {schoolInfo.TotalPopulation}/validityDivisor; Global numberVar responseTotal; "Since you reported your population to be " +...

Excel -- Multiple Open Workbooks in Taskbar

Typically when you open multiple workbooks in Excel each workbook has it's own icon on the taskbar. This makes it easy to move from workbook to workbook simply by clicking on it's icon in the taskbar. I have a user who is using Excel but he is only able to get a single icon to appear on the...

    HP Color LaserJet 5 - Win2k Driver?

Thanks genrlj1596. I'll give it a try. I realize this is a rather old printer but the powers that be don't want to invest in a new one if the old is still working. The problem we seem to be experiencing relates to color reproduction. For some reason when we're printing something with a lot...

    HP Color LaserJet 5 - Win2k Driver?

Good Day All, I've gone to the HP site but can't seem to locate a driver for my HP Color LaserJet 5. Does anyone know why HP doesn't have a Win2k driver? Can I use the XP driver with Win2k? If not, is anyone aware of someplace where I can find a compatible driver for this printer and Windows...

Mouse still has power after shutdown?

The mouse does not have a battery in it. I have the same problem with my optical mouse, but since I rarely, if ever, shut down my machine I've just learned to live with it OR unplug the whole thing from the power outlet.
