Does anyone know of a tape virtualization vendor who's disk device formats the tape with the same name that arcserve formats it with? Right now we're looking at Cybernetics but their virtual tapes are autoformatted as VT1.1,VT1.2 and so on. We are a company that has hundreds of backup tapes and...

I am having a problem streaming large PDF's to users through IIS. For some users their internet explorer browser freezes and they cannot do anything at all but kill the IE and AcroRd32.exe processes. Other users will slow down at the time when that one user freezes but they will still have their...
Hi I am running dbtosql.exe on a 21.6GB Arcserve 11 database. It has been running since 6pm yesterday and has moved very slowly. It also appears to be restarting once it makes it to 15 to 20% it starts back over. Is this normal for a Arcserve database conversion? How long has this typically...
we had similar problems when ghosting. performance was significantly brought down during the ghosting. this problem was not solved b/c of time and money constraints and ghosting was done on a seperate network of switches. one thing to try is possibly trying not to multicast when ghosting.
3com has a network management utility to monitor switches. you can download the 30 day trial version, but if you have some new switches, the utility is included.
You can also enable "snmp" on the switches and use any network management utility such as Whats Up Gold to monitor the switches.
Hey all,
I'm just starting to learn SQL server administration. I'm having trouble understanding what backing up a file group actually is? How does it affect the restore versus backing up a full database? I've not had any problems with backing up the full database.
Hi I'm trying to use windows authentication on a remote virtual directory. The problem is even though I deny a users access to a specific folder he can still login to that folder. I believe it has to do with the "connect as.." option when setting up a virtual directory, but if i don't set a...
I believe you're running into the problem of a double hop. If you look on msdn or microsofts website or google about "impersonation" you'll find this is a common problem with ASP.net and accessing remote virtual directories. I am actually working on the same problem.
Hey all thanks for the help. It turns out that my workgroup names were accidently named differently on both computers. You have to have the same workgroup, and when running the install you have to be logged in both machines with the same username and same password as stated in previous two...
