    In my case i changed the advanced option setting to - Startup in this folder: "INBOX" Instead of the default option - Startup in this folder "Mailbox" ...to my amazement it fixed the problem :-)

    Word cannot open existing "square symbol" when opening outlook

    I have a user that is having problem upon opening outlook 2000. He is receiving the error "Word cannot open the existing "[square symbol]. I have renamed his normal.dot and problem still occurs. He uses word as his default mail editor. Can somebody please help!
