I can get users "re-registered" with the "dial by name directory" by changing their shortname(I appended a 1), letting VM sync and update the corresponding folder for that user, then change the user back.... Thanks to all.

Thanks, I'll have the user give it a try. It makes sense since I would expect this user to have VPN running and then disconnect VPN (thus losing connectivity to the IPO) and then shut down the system and phone manager pro. I'll let you know if that did it.
