Snicks2, Do you know what service was disabled? I'm having a similar problem on my sql server. I've looked at the services, anything automatic started perfectly. There's only one service set to disabled. just curious, please reply.
If you never set an Administrator password and you didn't disable the account you should be able to hit enter and login. Did you it up to join a domain? If so, you can login under a Domain Admin account and adjust the settings from there. Make sure you do set a password for the Administrator...
I think I found where the issue really lies. I tried that round about way, going thru the desktop but it gives me a permissions to that folder error, that doesn't make sense. I even tried humoring it and giving share permissons. Nada. I might have to reinstall if I can't find the files that need...
Recreating the shortcut from the programs menu does not work because the problem occurrs from both the desktop shortcut and the programs menu. It's not a target issue, but thanks anyway.
We tried opening outlook from just the programs menu which doesn't require a double click, but that had crossed my mind the first time it occurred. Using the start menu -> programs removes the target issue, don't know about the add-ins. thanks.
yes. the problem only occurs every so often, but yes, both ways of starting it. To clarify further, I also made sure the end user wasn't running any other programs at the same time in case another office program was starting outlook.exe. I've searched the Microsoft Kb too.
I AM USING WINDOWS2000 WITH OUTLOOK97. THE CPU OCCASIONALLY DECIDES TO RUN SUPER HIGH, THE PROBLEM IS OUTLOOK.EXE IS RUNNING TWO INSTANCES. I CAN GO INTO TASK MANAGER AND END BOTH PROCESSES RUNNING AND THE CPU RUNS NORMAL FROM THEN ON. BUT I CAN'R FIND A PERMENANT SOLUTION. HAS ANYONE ELSE COME...
Have you tried having the user(previously added as a temporary admin or power user group) sign on and in the security permissions add them in HKEY_CURRENT_USER, software, microsoft, office, outlook? Just don't forget to take the user out of the powerusers or admin group after. I've had similiar...
Ok, I need help. I'm getting an invalid page fault when I open any email in outlook97 or when I try to write a new message. The error is in ole32.dll and 023f:7ff887dad. I couldn't find any help in Microsoft's KB. I looked for an offitems.log and outitems.log but it's not there. I want to avoid...
I was having the same problem with our new Windows2000s. I also refuse to give the users, power user rights and was just about to check microsoftKB. Thanks for saving me time!
It effected only the remote clients. I was able to get it going after stopping, then restarting ALL of the mail services on the WINS server ( i missed one before)but this keeps occurring every few weeks. I can't seem to find any event that coincides with this problem. I think the root of the...

Hi, I can't get mail with my outlook express. It was working correctly. nothing has changed as far as it's configured. I'm getting a POP3 problem, socket error10061. I dial into an exchange server and I tried restarting the mail services. I looked at RAS config, it's good. I can't find anything...
I can't find a way to change it. It's not important, I just like to be consistent and have the correct name throughout the profile. It just made me a bit curious. Thanks.
