What I did was the same way mentioned above but the "company" folder did not inherit any attributes from the root (Drive X). From "company", I made my own settings and giving Users "Modify" properties. That solved the read-only issue for "department"...- DaWorm

Why shouldn´t a file server act as domain controller ?
I don't see the reason why not to implement such. I run a relatively small network with 2 Win2k3 standard servers running both as DCs and one as FS.
