    Desktop Icons

    You could try using Tweak UI Powertoy. Open tweak UI, click the desktop tab. Deselect the icon you want to remove, click ok, and the icon disappears. Tweak is on the Windows 98 CD. if you don't have it you can download at http://www.pcworld.com/r/ad/1%2Cad-bizzed-11-19%2C00.html
