We make images of raid 0+1 no prob. I havent tried raid 5 we usually just back it to tape. If you find you cant do it with drive image or ghost maybe try symantecs product Livestate Server or Advanced i believe that will do it.

This problem is a communication issue. I was recieving the same errors during brick level backups and always on the same exchange mailboxes. Our intrusion detection system was blocking it and we had to make the proper adjustments.

Does the account you are using for the backup have full rights on exchange. You will need this to back it up.

Try putting the servers and ip address in a host file. If the server is timing out this should help speed things up a bit.
