Thanks!
Unfortunately I am stuck with the version of Excel that I have...I'll give the docmd approach a try.
Combo, what event would I attach this, to trigger it etc...?
Hi,
Does anyone know how to extract table data to excel when there are more than 65k rows (I think 65k is the limit to how many rows you can add in an excel worksheet)?
I know that one alternative is to drag and highlight which rows but I have nearly 300k rows and doing it this way would take...
Hi,
Does anyone know of an existing Data Feed Change Management Standard that can be leveraged? I could create one for my org but would rather leverage something that already does the job.
Any links, comments or ideas are much appreciated!

Hello,
I was wondering of what others have done to address master data scenarios such as this one:
there are a handful of systems all containing customer and product information which is buried into the transaction data. there are a few systems to track sales and products, and others for...
Hello,
Is there a way within Cognos to report on who in your company is using Cognos and how (eg. developing reports, running reports, viewing reports ect)...
Thanks
Hello,
Does anyone know whether it is possible to run the same job flow concurrently? The scenario is that staggered data gets entered into the source tables in question, but clients still need the target outputs with whatever data is available regardless. I am not sure if there is a way to do...
Totally agree - both team and individual factors drive bonus entitlements.
Your 'exceeds' performers will get their 'exceeds' increases in salary, and to a degree in their bonuses as well. Things like innovation, business value generated for clients - these are hard to quantify but are factors...
Its funny how some view BI as encompassing DW (and data integration and processes such as MDM, ODS etc), and others classify BI as merely the presentation layer of an overall reporting solution. Is there general and accepted consensus and direction on this topic that right now seems to still be...
Hi - I was wondering if anyone knew a use for when it would be useful to combine etl with a messaging tool such as IBM MQ? Has anyone done this? - Thanks
It seems that SQL MV's are more geared to adress performance, whereas Oracle MV's can be used for that (MV's as summary tables) as well as for end user data access. A lot of good discussion has been generated - thanks all for the input.
Thanks so much! to play devils advocate - why use an MV over an actual table? in an end user (ad hoc) reporting scenario, what benefits can be gained that you know of thru using an MV? Thank you!
How are mat views different than logical views. My challenge is i don't want to grant power users direct access to tables for their end-user reporting needs. But IT needs to give them some way to analyze their data in an ad hoc way...

Does SQL Server have an equivalent to Oracle materialized views? How are mat views different than logical views. My chellenge is i don't want to grant power users direct access to tables for their reporting needs. But IT needs to give them some way to analyze their data in an ad hoc way...

Thanks so much for your reply Groggle. Your information is very helpful. I guess there may be facilities baked into the product to address certain aspects of infrastructure/security/change management.
A question I guess this raises as well at least in my mind is whats the advantage in using a...
I am very new to BOBJ and have a couple questions about universes. My task is that I've got about 20 tables (2 facts), and will need to develop a universe or two. Reports will then sit on top of the universe(s) and be used by a dozen users. I'm basically setting up a new pilot environment for...
Good points to think about, thanks John.
I am particularly interested in and will see what information I can get on your point that SQL server may be more tuned to star schemas, cubes etc...
Thanks. theres two types of cost associated with this type of study. Unit cost is about charging clients back for such things as utilization, consumption and processing. And in a server environment its always harder to connect the dots between processes and to get an accurate read of such things...
Hi,
My company has a data warehouse thats about .5 terabytes in size with over 300 tables. Its currently in db2 on the mainframe. We're thinking of converting it to MS SQL Server. But I'm not really sold on what benefits this brings. Does anyone have have ideas or specific examples in support...
