W2K INSTALLATION ON A GENERIC PC SYSTEM

I had the same problem myself. Here is the info I found. It works, (don't know if it works +SP1 though) you just need to burn a new cd with the modified bchk32.exe file put in place of the original file. Subject: Dell Win2k Install Fix From:LucidHaze Date: Mon, 18 Dec 2000 21:34:03 -0500...

The configuration information is buried in their support pages at http://dialup.swbell.net/help/ I've never used PC anywhere.

    Configuring router for DSL modem

I mean the ones provided by your internet service provider. For SWBell enter 151.164.1.8 and 151.164.1.7 under DNS on the router configuration page.

Error with Win2k Pro trying to use CDRWIN 3.8

This probably goes without saying, but I've learned not to assume anything when trying to troubleshoot from a forum. Did you totally un-install CDRWin and reboot before each installation of a newer version?

    Win2k can't distribute the IRQs

The only way I know of to distribute the IRQ's is with a non-ACPI install. To do this you need to reinstall Windows 2000. At the very beginning of the install when the message "Hit F6 to install third party drivers" appears, hit F5. After a few moments when a menu appears, select...

Sending email with attachments on DSL

Are you trying to use a pop3 account supplied by a dial-up isp? If so, you need to use the pop3 account supplied by your DSL service provider to send emails using DSL. The dial-up provider will probably only let you log onto their server over a direct phoneline connection.

Linksys DSL Router & Pacbell dynamic IPs

You should look into 'dynamic dns service' from www.TZO.com. You install a small program on your computer that monitors your isp supplied ip address and reports changes to TZO at time intervals you specify. TZO supplies you with a domain name of your choice (example: yourname.TZO.com)...

Mouse problems - only 1com port

See if you have an option to "Enable PS2 Mouse" in your bios. One of my machines does have this option.

    Encyclopedia reads from cd drive

Try uninstalling the program, copying the entire cd contents to the desired location on your hard drive, and then run the setup.exe from the location you copied the cd to.

    FSB's and Processors Continued

Where did you buy a 800 MHz Celeron with a 66 MHz FSB? All 800 MHz Celerons I've seen have a 100 MHz FSB. I'm just curious.

    Configuring router for DSL modem

The speedstream 4060 can't be connected to the linksys router for 2 reasons. (1) It requires a USB interface, which the router doesn't have. (2) The 4060 requires software drivers installed on your computer that allow your modem to sync up to your service provider, therefore, it can't be run...
