Buying a scsi card may not be as easy as you think. Sometimes scsi cards aren't quite so universal with scanners. Get as many specs on the card you have. Check to see that the scanner is using an aspi compliant interface, then buy the pci card.

To all parallel port scanner owners:
If you are running XP or in some cases 2000, don't bother trying to get your scanners to work as they did on your previous version of Windows.
Microsoft no longer supports connecting parallel port devices other than printers. They would like to stop that...
Try letting the scanner warm up for a few minutes. Make sure you check the sleep settings. (if any in the software)
Otherwise you more than likely have a hardware/lightsource problem that will require repair.
