messed up bios settings i think

You may need more than just command.com on the disk to make it bootable. If you've got your DOS disk #1, boot from it. If your bios allows for it I'd set one of your boot devices to your CDROM, if so you'd be able to boot from the WIN98 CD to install. If you have access to another computer you...

    2 ip's on one interface?

At 10.20 you'd use ifalias, the ip's would also have to be on the same net. On hp-ux 11.0 you'd use ifconfig, I beleive the ip's could be different networks.

How to install or update in HP ?

For an OS upgrade you'd have to run swgettools to get the current ver of sdux on the system, then run swinstall to upgrade the OS. For an OS install/upgrade I'd suggest going to http://docs.hp.com, they have online manuals that can help with an upgrade. Is there a particular product you are...

    backup, best choice?

tar and cpio may be okay choices, if you're backups are under 2GB. Another option available to you would be fbackup. fbackup does not have the 2GB limitation and can allow you to span multiple tapes if needed.

Information Regarding Vines e-mail system needed.

People still use Banyan VINES! Anywho, I was a network admin and we used VINES 5.54(20) then made it up to 6.3. Can't say that I remember exactly how the mail was stored or the exact options that I used to get into it from the server's console. If it helps any Beyond Mail was the 3rd party app...
