Select "Properties"
Click On "Device Manager"
Double click on "Display Adaptors"
You will now see the display adaptors that are installed on your PC.

What make of video card?
What make of monitor?
Where are the lines?
How far apart are they?
I would agree with edemiere but I have seen in the past similar problems caused by incorrect monitor settings and also failing trinitron monitors starting to loose the shadow...
This does not sound good.
Try running a debug on it first. Eitherway I would suggest that you make regular backups and prepare to get a new Drive. Ticking HDD's usually mean that the drive is about to give up.
