Team Building exercises for tense situations

One of the best team exercises i can remember was to get each person to write 3 things about themselves that none of the team would know. This is usually done on flip charts. Once the team returns they all have to guess who the team menber is by looking at the evidence. Its possible to find out...

    Women in IT

BeckahC I wholeheartedly agree with your comments. My husband was vaguely helpful when my daughter was a baby but not many men are willing to give up their careers to care for their children. My husband at the time was a paint sprayer and not earning anywhere near as much as I was. Its true, a...

    Women in IT

Can I throw another spanner in the works by mentioning that I am a working mother and returned to work 3 months after having my baby.Men (In Britain) also get paternity leave ok not 3 months but they still are not left out in the 'leave' stakes! I don't think anyone has a right to discriminate...

Just for the record, I am ENGLISH !!!! In the IT department I work for there are only two women, including myself. The men in the department seem to delight in being patronising to us.I have also had occasions that I have rang an outside software helpdesk to resolve a problem and when I have...

    Women in IT

Hey,Elizabeth, who's side are you on?I didn't start this thread to be scrutinised on my spelling, and this is not an English exam. The point I was trying to make is that its about time that more women were encouraged to have careers in IT.Unfortunately, after working in the industry for 24 years I...

    Women in IT

It seems that us women are out numbered in the IT Industry. I also find that the men I work with honestly believe that women couldn't possibly know anything in the IT business and are condescending and chauvanistic. I believe I can do my job as well as any man.Is this an IT thing or ,just a man...

    Using chmod in scripts.

When you mean site command do you mean physically typing in the word 'site' or is this meant to be an IP address? I don't appear to have the command on my AIX O/S.

    Using chmod in scripts.

I've just tested the above and the file is coming in via ftp.It seems to pick up the user AIX login name at this point. Maybe if I change the ownership to the required user I can find out whether I can change the permissions. What do you think?
