    Selecting multiple files

    Try checking mouse properties in Control Panel.If it is set for 'Copy' instead of 'Select' it can behave as you describe. Also see http://www.computing.net/windowsxp/wwwboard/forum/49872.html which describes the same problem with MS mouse "Click Lock". Hope this helps.
