First of all, update to version 9.1.

You can stop and start the services. From the tools menu above...
I have been fighting my ARCserve[evil]off and on for about 3 months. My suggestion is to do what I am doing. Uninstall all ARCserve components, install Veritas Backup Exec[bigsmile], and be somewhat free of troubles
