The problem isn't that CR's totals aren't pre-processed, it's that CR does is not readily capable of pre-processing totals with logic, whereas Report Writer can. Sum({table.billed},{table.datepaid}) works just fine and pre-processes...
Heh good point. Forgive my ignorance but what exactly does union do? Like, what's the output of that formula and how can you query or sort on the result?
Agreed, Crystal isn't much for parsing. When I'm dealing with comma delimited fields I tend to import it to Excel or Access before I try to do anything with it in Crystal.
However, if you can depend on the position of the entries in that field, it's a pretty easy solution. Create a formula...
This is a very handy set of commands. For the first time, using a shared total from a sub-report, I was able to emulate a pre-processed total in Crystal. I used Report Writer before I started using Crystal and I've missed this option dearly ever since.
