Hi guys!
Im setting upp nagios to monitor our network, but I cannot seem to find the OID or text-name for the powersupplys on the 8600, does anybody have them?

I think that error message is displayed when you try to give a VLAN a number or bame that is already taken...maybe something from the old configuratipm...?

console is the way to go, or telnet if you can do that via the fiberport, if it isnt disabled as well.
I believe the console settings for hyperterminal or something similar are: 9600 baud,8 bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, flow control:none.
And then just press Ctrl-Y and log on
(you might have to...
If you double-click in the grey area representing the chassi of the switch, you can see the serialnumber of the nortel gear, although now when I look at a 450, the serialno looks like a MACadress, this is not the case with the 420s...hmm...

Hey you guys
Im getting an error message when I try to run that OID for CPU utilization, I wonder if I have the "wrong" version of MRTG or something...
It says that it is an unregistered value in the MRTG_lib.pm file, and I guess that means that it cannot use that OID? Anyone???

Yeah, we are currently in contact with nortel about this problem, and its only on the 420s we're experiencing this. Thanx for your input though, its good to know Im not alone with this issue =)

No, the pings dont come and go, they disappear completely. We dont use IGMP, but the snooping is per default on. And if you add a new VLAN to a switch, it has IGMP snooping and proxy on, and you have to turn it off manually, or the switch will go down...And when we turn IGMP off at one switch...
Hi all.
Im administrating a MAN with about 700 nodes. The edge switches we use are mostly 420s. Lately, we have been experiencing problems with the 420s, some of them keep rebooting all the time, and some of them work fine, i.e you can browse the internet and download files when connected to the...
Any firewalls in use here?
Not being able to ping in just one direction or not being able to see some but not all of the computers also make me suspect firewall issues.

Hi.
Im having problems with one of our 420s. It works fine, and if you are connected to it, you can use the internet and gain access to our management VLAN as well. The problem is that we cannot telnet into it, nor ping the little bugger.
Anyone had this problem before?
We are running the new...
Hi!
Im doing a bit of home user support at the moment, and I was wondering if anyone has a good explanation or cause for the error message "Internal MAC receive error"
thanx

Hi.
If you have other nortel gear, connect it with the 450, and use optivity switch manager and see if the new switch appears on the map. Not sure if this will work if the uplink ports aren´t the same, just something I thought of. Please tell me if it works...=)

Hey all!
Im just curious, I accidentally told DM to open 172.16.2.1600
And it worked!
Well, kinda, it opened 172.16.2.64, and if you take 1600 and turn it into binary (f.ex with ms calculator) and then choose bytes, and then turn it back to dec, it reads 64... =)
But still, shouldn't DM stop...
Yeah, we have a few hundred other 420s working fine as well, its just these past few weeks we've been experiencing this, with standalone units as well, I was wondering if someone knew about a bad batch of switches from nortel or something like that...=)
