Win2k server (domain controller) XP pro workstations.
What is the simplest way to log logon attempt events to one particular workstation? Logons would probably be as administrator. Could local logon attempts be logged as well, or only logons to the domain?
Thanks,
Tony.
sql 2003 on server 2003. When users are assigned new IP addresses over wireless they can no longer log in although they can otherwise access the network normally. Is this likely to be a wireless (latency?) issue or an IP issue?
Thanks.
Tony.
Domain server running 2K SP4 and workstations running XP Pro.
My question is this: Is there any way one workstation only can be locked down so that only the user has access (the guy with server admin permissions does not and can not change things such that he does)?
I imagine the answer to...
Can anyone explain this weird occurrence?
When I send to one particular email address (only this address and it is the only address I use at the recipient's domain) the email ALWAYS bounces with an Action Failed: Unable to Relay message. Then, when I resend, or if I send another email...
I need to make a PC on a LAN (private IP address) running a vnc server visible from the Internet via a Sonicwall TZ170. Assuming I use the default port 5900 how would I go about this? The Sonicwall is NAT enabled. I have vnc allowed WAN to LAN in the Sonicwall rules but need to make the...
A computer (Win2K Server) connected directly to a Sonicwall firewall acts as a GoToMyPC host and can be accessed correctly from the Internet. A second PC (Win XP Pro) on the LAN is also set up to be a GoToMyPC host but is not accessible.
I have tried enabling Citrix (the GTMPC...
Please note I'm not posting this to the DAID forums as there's hardly any traffic there and the question is not DAID manufacturer specific.
Question: Can I mix Ultra-320 and Ultra-160 drives in a SCSI Raid 5 array on a U-160 controller and expect the 320 drives to safely run at 160?
Thanks,
Tony.
Currently we have:
Internet - DSL router - NAT configured Firewall - x-over cable - 1st Private IP NIC (forwarded by firewall) - Win2K domain server - 2nd Private IP NIC - hub - LAN (static IP) with the server running a proxy server and an SMTP mail server and used for file sharing.
Will the...
One of the 3 HDDs in our Raid 5 array has failed and I've replaced it with the hot spare. Does a new HDD have to be of the same make and capacity (they're all Seagate 60GB) and does it have to be formatted in any special way?
Thanks, Tony.
I would like to split an ASCII file into smaller files (could be named 1.txt 2.txt, doesn't matter) based on the occurrence of a pattern (say immediately before each "abcde"). Any ideas how I could do this?
Thanks,
Tony.

Playing music CDs results in very distorted sound with crackles and pops as well.
System is Toshiba Satellite, 192 MB RAM, 450MHz Celeron (maybe the old CPU is the problem?), TEAC CD-ROM (I think 10X), although there's the same problem if I try to play the CDs from an eternal (CD 52X) HP...
Thank you RWild and others. I will try the compatibility feature. The Sims definitely didn't run on my Win2k box. Perhaps Win98 compatibility in XP Pro will solve it.
Tony.
Well yes, Me is terrible, but that's what she wants and she's paying me! I know that The Sims specifically states that's it's 98SE/Me compatible (maybe 95) and that's it. It won't run on Win2k or XP. Not sure about other games.
A friend wants her XP Pro downgraded to WinMe because there are several games she has that won't play on XP (particularly The Sims).
Is there a way of getting them to play on XP Pro?
Can Me be installed over XP so as to preserve data and the installed programs?
Thanks,
Tony.
