I'm sure this has been answered before but I can't find it.
I did a complete upgrade 'update_all' from AIX 4.3.1 to 4.3.3 a couple of months ago. Previous to aix 4.3.1 the machine was at aix 4.2.1. 'oslevel' just shows 4.3.0
If I run lslpp -f I can see all the new filesets, and the smit.log...
We just upgraded from AIX 4.3.1 to 4.3.3. All went fine
except when we run 'oslevel' it only says 4.3.0.
When we run 'lslpp' with the proper flags, we see all the
filesets with 4.3.3
What do we do to correct the 'oslevel'
thanks
We have just successfully load Unixware 7.1.1 on an HP server running 3 disks under RAID-5.
We have already expanded the usual filesystems and would now
like to add three(3) more filesystems in this disk set.
What is the easist way to do this.
Thanks
I will be upgrading an F-40 from AIX 4.3.1 to 4.3.3
Is it better to get into service mode and read from the CD to do a MIGRATION or just do a 'smitty update_all'.
If service mode is better, how do you get into service mode?
There is no normal/service key like on the older machines.
Thanks
Greetings;
I have just encountered error message 42c after seeing c33.
RS/6000, AIX 4.3.2
I know that c33 has detected the ibm3151 terminal, and usually this is the last entry in the LED before it goes blank. What is 42c, and what trouble am I in?
Thanks
We have to RS/6000 systems, both with 2 NIC cards.
The first NIC, en0 is working just fine on both systems.
We want to activate the 2nd NIC, utilizing a cross-over CAT-5 cable to transfer files only between the two NIC cards and not broadcast over the entire network. It is a small LAN.

What is the best way to create a SCO UnixWare 7.0 bootable backup, similiar to an IBM (AIX) "mksysB"
Thanks. We are writing it out to a 4mm-DDS 2 tape.
I have configured 20 print queues on an AIX machine (4.3.1),which are using network printing and the hpJetDirect
functionality. All printers are printing across the network.
The problem is that we are send escape/control sequences which are only reflected in the first print job. Subsequent...
I would like a simple way to print from an IBM RS/6000 Rel. 4.3.3 to desktop machines on the network. These include Win-98, Win-NT 4.0 Workstation and Win-NT Server.
I have tried 'smit printers', using remote host and other.
Thanks
I have recently installed UnixWare 7.1.1 on an HP server.
The install went very well. We assigned an IP address and at the conclusion of the install decided to change the IP address. The system now keeps refering to a DNS entry which contains the old IP address.
This is causing problems when...
I am trying to print remotely from an RS/6K (F50, AIX 4.3.2) to a Minolta Di350 copier/printer which is on the network. It prints fine from the Win-NT Server.
I have added the queue as an HPJETDIRECT (PCL), as an IBMNETPRINTER (PCL) and also as OTHER. The IP address is 182.5.199.47. I can...
I have two RS/6000 servers. Both with 10Mb ethernet cards.
System (1) can ftp or telnet to other servers very quickly, whether logged in as root or not.
System (2) has a long delay when ftp or telnet'ing to the same other servers when NON-root.
Both machines are configured the same.
'hosts'...
I am having difficulty trying to get my .netrc script to login into a Win-NT server and 'mput' one file on the server.
For some reason it does not like my macdef init line.
An example would be great.
The user login owns the .netrc and the permissions are set
to 600. I can manually run 'ftp' and...
