Hi,
We are building a document control tracking database and need some help.
Our document number is in the following format: 2-DEP-000
Where DEP gets replaced by 3 digit department code depending on which department wrote the document. And 000 gets incremented by 1 for each new document from...
Thanks TomThumb - good advice.
DrJavaJoe - I have been looking for something else - but not too aggresively. Because they have offerered an incentative to stay through end date, and as I said I've only been in role (a brand new role for me - my first in IT)for a little over 6 months - so I...
My company announced 6 months ago that they are relocating to a new city. As would be expected many people decided they do not want to relocate (I happen to be one). Many people are leaving the company each week. As more people leave more work is placed on the remaining employees. Because...

Then the user clicks a command button which opens a report (in...
Is it possible that when creating the SomeTempTable from query4 - there were two fileds named difference - so it created two fields in new table and named them query4.difference and somethingelse.difference?
don't know if that helps or not - but just 1st thought that came to my mind.
darude,
I wonder if it has something to do with the properties of your form... could it be that the property is set in such a way that the form will not allow you to edit the data?
Or are you referring to editing the form itself? If you mean editing the form itself with records showing I...
Thanks mp9 for the response.
The backend database is 664,928 kb. The frontend is 149,834.
I just repaired and compacted both of them in the last 2 days. It didn't help the speed at all.
Just for clarification there are also links to other databases in the frontend - but only the two...
Using Access 97...A consultant built a form that allows user to select year then week. After those selections they click enter and the database copies the required data to a temporary database on the users hard drive. Everything works as it is supposed to.
However, in the recent weeks it...
I've got this message before too - and solved it by making a copy of the query and then renaming it to original query name overiting the original file. It works fine after that.
I too would like to know what causes it, and if there is a way to stop it with the extra work.
If you run the query via a macro and delte the existing table in the first step of the macro you would not get that error.
Of course to supress the confirm delete message you would have to setwarning to no I think.
Why not make the primary key in tblHistory a combination of fields for person name(or id) and date. Then when tblReviews appends it would not append duplicate values.
Couldn't the satelite offices export data to excel (instead of "running reports"), then you could import excel sheets into your database and generate summary.
Thanks everyone for your comments. I undestand what psbmss is saying about being careful about saying to my boss I can't work in this environment.
JigJag your comments are very appreciated and helpful. It gives me some ideas to at least try to come up with a plan of what to do next.

Hi,
I work for a very large consumer goods company. I started in December of 2002 as a Data Analyst. When I started they had reporting systems that were very complex and non-user friendly. My initial "assignment" was to modify/create data reporting systems for our department.
I have done...
