I have fixed this problem. I didn't have DNS configured properly so that the server was pointing to itself as the DNS server. All Administrative tools launch right away. It has nothing at all to do with the RAID after all.

Cables...I thought about that. But then why does the other one work? I've also tried cables that I know work on other PCs. What perplexes me is that the PC's network card doesn't give me a network connected green light when I plug it...
Hi:
Just wondering if anyone else has run into this before.
The client has a network of 5 PCs all connected via DSL with a Cayman Series Netopia box. The Cayman box has 4 ports and the client has static IPs or DHCP. We added a Linksys BEFSR41 for network firewall protection and NAT. It...
It's an issue of money. We don't have any. Sound familiar? :-)
The straight scoop is this... The workstation with Red Hat 9 is a donated workstation. I installed the Red Hat and as such it is a journaling filing system. User's don't have root access so they can't fsck unless they reboot...
Hi:
I've installed a lower end workstation with Red Hat 9. The machine has been deployed in a wireless coffee shop. This is the only machine which has been hardwired to the network. Everyone else just brings in a laptop with a wireless card.
For this Linux workstation, the goal is to make...

Ghost your drive
Restore the ghost image to the drive you want to copy it to
When the ghost recover is completed, it will want to reboot.
Put your windows XP CD in the drive, and when the system reboots, do a repair. This should take care of any device dependent driver...
and for the conclusion...in case anyone is following this thread....
As it turns out, the reason this system wouldn't install is because the motherboard won't play nice with ACPI. But wait, there's more!

Hi:

Ok, so I formatted the drive with NTFS and installed WinXP Pro. It seems to be working fine. For those of you who have been following my other thread, "frosted unlucky files..." there doesn't appear to be any random crashes, etc. I'm using the same disk. The only difference is that...
Hello All:
In my list of things I've tried, I negelected to mention that I tried Pre-formatting the drive with FAT32. If I do this, yes, I'm presented with the option to "leave as it is"

4. Format the partition using the FAT file...

Actually, in this case it seems that scandisk was causing the problem. Quoting TekTippy:
Just a guess, but, might as well;

I updated the BIOS before I installed the OS the first time. As a general rule, whenever I refurbish a machine, I upgrade the BIOS if possible.
After I install the new workstations at this client site, I'll be getting the old workstation back. I'll be glad to put it on the open...

Very insightful! It's not applicable in this case, but you're absolutely correct about that being a potential cause nonetheless. One of the initial theories I checked was EMF from a power junction that might have been too close to the computer. There were none. I quickly rejected...
