This may just be a 24 hour lockout. Course if it isn't one option to recover admin privs (though you would lose users and permissions set) would be to delete the sam on your machine. Can't do it while Windows is up and running, but can boot to a floppy, but an ntfstodos proggy and delete the...
You set up a demand dial vpn on both machines, and make sure they use shared credentials(works well if you create an account just for this purpose). Make sure you don't forget to add them as static routes to get to the other location as well.
As far as site replication, with nothing fancy it...
They need the admin tools installed...a saved mmc windows is really just a series of shortcuts...no programs in back and it won't run them. Course installing adminpak.msi is easy enough to get those tools installed.
Easiest method would be to set up a vpn between sites and make sure both have different private ip ranges. After that, they should appear local and being private won't matter a bit. Should then set up sites after if the vpn is even an option...
One thing you should try is look in your proxy(ISA) settings and see if the public network is listed in your LAT. If so, ISA will translate the addresses and make them appear local, and even with relaying turned off exchange will think its doing its job in sending the email. Hope this helps.
Ok, No ipconfig /release /renew does nothing, nor does flushdns. The dns servers I have do have the internal address, but no root. Forwarders are set up with just the 2 isp dns servers as entries. As for nslookup, both internals CAN resolve external names, but as I said they do it VERY slowly.
I'm not aware of anything like this. The best I could suggest is to use one of the many graphic trace route type programs out there and map their nearest router. The problem you will have is that ISP will have a given range of ip they give out, but their customer range can be very large and...
I administer a network with a basic ISA RRAS setup to connect about 30-40 computers to the internet. The problem I've been having lately is that dns is taking FOREVER to resolve names across the internet now. Internal names resolve fine, and the dns servers themselves will resolve very quickly...
I have a simple VPN setup to the internal network which has 2 subnets, both of which are connected to the VPN server. The problem I have is that anyone vpn'ing in from a machine that is a member of the domain can access dns, exchange, everything. If a computer that isn't part of the domain...
Make sure your server has both PPTP and L2TP ports available, then in the client VPN properties be sure to enable PPTP type as it requires less configuration. That error usually happens when one is trying to do pptp and other is trying l2tp
Ok, first off, yes each of the 'router' servers are multihomed...actually have 3 nics each(one of the many problems with the current setup). There is no proxy service setup, only ISA on some. Through RRAS there is no NAT or ICS setup on any of the machines and just confirmed today that the...
Ok, this may sound a bit stupid, but I've recently taken over a network and plan on reworking their current routing situation. To make a long story short, its bad. There are 3 different servers all acting as routers to connect.....3 network segments together.
My problem is that the new...
Ok, here's my setup. We have an exchange server with OWA access, but is a bit quirky for obvious reasons, so I've been setting up the VPN to allow the ability to check through outlook while connected. Many problems and solutions later, it works for any machines that are part of the...
I could really use some help setting up a VPN for windows NT 4.0 server. I have no problem doing so with W2k server, and do so on a regular basis, but has been years since I worked with NT, and have totally forgotten about setting a VPN up.
Is everything I need found in RAS or at least...
