URGENT - Shop Floor Data Collection- Please Help

Just a thought prompted from a distant past experience. It may also be an appropriate time to stamp your product with a unique serial number to allow tracking in other parts of the system. (Like backflushing) Regards, Peter

Are computers simply too complicated for common use

Well yes i would like to enlighten you, but because the industry is so vast abd so fragmented, my particular summary would not (probably) work for you without a fair bit of background on where it comes from and what it means. I will give my view if i can, and i would like to see other people's...

Are computers simply too complicated for common use

"Unless, you are a math prodigy" Certainly not - just cant remember that far back! But the analogy stands, IMO. There are a couple of fundamentals in algebra which do not change no matter how complex the problem may be. Once these are grasped, whatever that really means, one feels...

Are computers simply too complicated for common use

"Some people just can't seem to get their heads around computers - the same way some people will never be able to drive a car 'properly'." Most anybody who wants to drive a car 'properly' can learn just by doing a couple of advanced driving courses. There is no such succinct...

Are computers simply too complicated for common use

It is coz there is not yet a language which sits comfortably between people and computers. One day we will view these threads as quaint.

Are computers simply too complicated for common use

"The whole, successful philosophy behind games consoles" I have always regarded the games universes as exemplary software environments. Sierra Nintendo SIM city and Transport Tycoon I wonder why none ever tried to be a development environment for real-world systems. Or does...

Has anyone else noticed... (Lack of skills)

While experience teaches that which was not taught, i would not like to leave this thread on this complacent note. There is something fundamentally wrong with IT and i want to find out what it is. One thing which i think has a major effect is tertiary IT education - and primary and secondary for...

Has anyone else noticed... (Lack of skills)

Paradoxically, it is not the technical knowledge that counts. That knowledge has to change every now and then, what with new languages, new databases, new operating systems. Knowledge can be gained of the methodologies - Codd, Date, Gane & Sarson, Booch, Modular, Structured, Object oriented...

Has anyone else noticed... (Lack of skills)

SemperFiDownUnda says - "When I was in a perminate role we had the HR manager there for 1 reason....she was a psychologist and handled the people skills portion of the interview. Just like I wouldn't want her to do the technical portion of the interview I wouldn't want most propelor heads...

    Looking for suggestions...

You probably need to use a language within HTML. I am presently looking at HTML as a user interface for server based applications, so I dont yet know enough to give you a concise answer. If you find anything helpful please inform me by replying to this thread. These links have helped a bit -...

I want to use css, but am seduced by the FONT.

Your advice should be in the standards. In this case, the names are generic. I have many textual objects that are generated into HTML. I am trying to come to a standard, and in this case I have decided that there should be a numbered list of 4 colors that will always display clearly, and that...

    WDG Validator question

I get this suggestion from WDG Validator - "Error: element LI not allowed here; possible cause is an inline element containing a block-level element" for this url http://patlynch.homelinux.org/webpub/samples/SAMPLE.HTM. Can anybody tell me what the problem is?

I want to use css, but am seduced by the FONT.

Now they tell me. I hated having to use '-'. But I took it that css requires the hyphen. www.htmlhelp.com/reference/css/structure.html - have I read too much into their use of the hyphen in the examples at this url. Thanks for that - i will use underscores from now on.

I want to use css, but am seduced by the FONT.

Thankyou for your help - the problem has been fixed - i was using dots as delimiters in the class name - "FONT.COLOR.1" - changed to hyphens and ok now - "FONT-COLOR-1"

I want to use css, but am seduced by the FONT.

I am trying to display text from a database using css and HTML. While i am satisfied with the layout and overall control given by css, i have great difficulty in doing the "simplest" things. I want to display text which changes color with no interruption to the layout of the line on...
