[gorgeous] You could try to go to BIOS first to restore defaults and clear the NVRAM, then save the changes. Do this before other troubleshooting steps. It could also have something to do with different IRQ assignments, like what Comtech said.- techbabe

[gorgeous]First, run diagnostics on the drive; it could be a defective hard drive. If you have a Dell, you can run the test by pressing ctrl-alt-d or by running the 32-bit diags from your resource cd. I dunno how to run hard rive diagnostics on other systems, however.
