We are using BE 9.0 on a Windows 2000 machine and backing up to a snap server. Almost daily the Device shows off line and if I rename those two files and do a restart on the Veritas services the device is back. Is there a "fix" for this that anyone else has used to keep the devices on line?
I have an Exchange Server (Exchange 2000 and Windows 2000) and it was backing up fine until a couple of weeks ago. I am using Version 9.0 with the Exchange module and now seems to get almost to the system state and the Remote Agent shuts down. It is a single server backup to tape. The windows...
Is it possible to change the job ownership without uninstalling and reinstalling Backup Exec? If I change the default log on I still need the owners password to change the jobs.
Thanks
We are running a backup on an exchange server (Windows Server 2000 and Exchange 2000) on a Seagate tape drive and travan 10/20 tapes. The error is "Not enough free disk space for temporary catalog files". The entire job is only about 6 gigs and there is still over 33 gigs available as free...
Sorry, I forgot to mention that we run version 9.0 build 4454. I should also mention that this was a reinstall due to a slight goof from our network administrator.
Thanks Steveot for the info I'll look into this too.
We have an Exchange server with Exchange 2000 and running on Windows 2000. When the backup runs it gets to the mailboxes and the Remote Agent Service suddenly stops. Nothing is in the BE log other than the job failed. The windows log only says the Service terminated unexpectedly. The Event...
One of the servers developed an error that shows up in the Windows event log but does not seem to affect the backup. The backup appears to be 100% and I can restore, etc. Veritas' solution was to rename the bedssql2.dll file to a .old. After changing the name of the file I got a backup with...
Last week our backup started to fail because it was asking for another tape. The drive is an HP Surestore with 40 Gig DAT tapes. The OS is Windows 2000 Server. Everything has been fine for a few months. I checked the compression is set in the job descriptions and on the drive itself. I...
We got this for two nights but now everything seems to be working 100%. Does anyone know what would cause the failure? The message: A failure occured while scanning the objects contained in \XXX\User\Local Settings\ etc.......
Yesterday our Exchange Server backup failed with the message "Unable to attach to drives." This is the Microsoft Exchange mailboxes. The error code is a000848c HEX. We are using Exchange 2000 and BE 9.0. Any suggestions why this would happen and any suggestions to fix it?
The Version is 8.6 with the SQL module. The sever is a Dell Poweredge with a DLT drive. I will take a look at the log situation after I talk to our DBA.
Thanks........
Recently my SQL server has been giving me a failure on the nightly backup. I get a message:
An error occurred on a query to filegroup msdb..PRIMARY.

The statement BACKUP DATABASE...FILE=<name> is not allowed while the recovery model is SIMPLE. Use BACKUP DATABASE or change the...
Thanks Zoe for the reply. It turned out, after some investigation, that our Network Administrator had set an auto reboot for the same time. Change the time for maintenance and presto it worked.
Thanks again......
Out of 11 servers We have one (Windows Server 2000, Seagate drive, and BE version 9.0) that the backup job runs fine. Everything backed up from the drives shows in the restore so I know that is working. This is more of an annoyance since it is the only one doing this. The database maintenance...
I have one server running Version 9.0 that almost every day gives me the following error which seems to be more of an annoyance. Everything backs up fine but won't perform the maintenance only on rare occasions. Any ideas why?
Event Type: Error

Event Category: None...
