i think that your problem is that xp home can't connect with a domain, therefore there is no trust between the 2 boxes. i would upgrade to xp pro, it will save you a lot of hassel.
Geoff
They are on demand basis. the tunnel will be up only to pass traffic. you can proiritize traffic over the tunnels if you like. setup your ADSL, dialer1 link and make its tunnel priority 2, and the t1 proirity 1.
Geoff
Okay, so you have a remote office; or are you trying to do a VPN in the same building for securing an accounting department or something? If you have a remote office with a DSL or T1 connection it is very simple. Or are these home users connecting individually?
Geoff
Why do you want to use static ip? You can get the DNS addresses by going into a command prompt and type ipconfig /all
this will give you a list of all connections and all settings on each adapter.
Geoff
angelleeye,
In the newer Linksys routers (I am not sure how old yours is), but there is a setting to choose for using ipsec and pptp connections. Make sure this is activated.
Geoff
Hmmm...how is he trying to build the tunnel? preshared keys? radius? give me a little more info on what he is trying to do, and I can help better.
Geoff
I am not sure what the problem is with the WET11. I have a couple of these and all I have done is connect to the AP (doing MAC filtering on the AP itself) and all is good. DHCP all that stuff. I guess I am confused?
Geoff
John,
I have not done this myself, but this link looks like it is what you want:

Geoff
You should do it in the server. You need to have administrative access and do it on your profile. Do you and they have DSL or Cable? You could setup a small VPN server on the W2K box and connect to it for free?
Geoff
Okay, the best way to do this is with ipsec tunnels with a pre-shared key. This way you will basically setup a "key" with an ip address for security. example:
ipsec isakmp key anything address 1.2.3.4 255.0.0.0
This will give host 1.2.3.4 access to the remote router (and visa versa)...
What Domain Controller are you using? NT4 or NT2K? You will need to specify dial-in permissions. Also, you only get 3 times to connect, then it will lock you out and you have to reboot.
Geoff
What are you conncecting to? ISA server, VPN server, Router? What is slow? file transfer web access, application? do you have a firewall, or do you have the firewall enabled on your XP box?
Geoff
By getting a rommon> prompt you are bypassing the flash. it won't let you type anything? do you have the IOS you can do a xmodem transfer with? The best thing to do would be to erase the config, reload the IOS and set it up how you want.
Geoff
Okay you have a couple of options here. You are golden with Xp PRO and W2KPRO, for these just have the user check the box"login using dialup connection" when they initailly log in. This will prompt them for the VPN connection (as well as isp connection if needed) and they will login...
