Will it work OK in safe mode?
The management agent install now includes an option of 'Mirror driver' under remote management, try installing it with & without this, as it can cause / fix some problems.
We had a problem with some rebooting to a blue screen after installing the agent, the fix was...
On your Zen server go to \\SERVER\SYS\PUBLIC\Zenworks\Imaging
In there is a Bootcd.iso file. Write this to CD, it creates a Zenworks boot CD. Then when you want to image a workstation, boot it from the CD and away you go. At the very worst if it doesn't work automatically this way you can...
Hi,
Anybody got any ideas for this problem??
Running Zen4 on windows 2000 PCs, I can go in and manually enable Workstation Manager through the Network ID settings in control panel, and manually start the workstation manager service, all works fine. However after a reboot, the workstation...
Thanks for your replies.
JTodd - I tried a pre-made crossover cable I had with me, then also just in case I made my own crossover cable on site and tried that, both the same results, so I don't think it is that.
Distance on the fiber I would guess somewhere between 100 and 200 metres. The...
Anyone know about problems with fiber?
One of our regional offices is having problems with connectivity, on cabling which had been installed by a partner company. The office down there can see back to head office fine, and works well, but there is a second building across the car park that is...
[jimfixit]:
Yes i've got it running to image all of our new PCs we're getting, which are GX260s.
To be honest, I'm still only in the early stages of getting Zenworks setup, so at the moment I only have the one image for these new PCs, and the multicast policy I've simply setup to push that image...
Thanks guys, some interesting thoughts so far.
I only just noticed that my solid Cat5 does have the time & date & distance stamped on it at 1 metre intervals, so that's useful. I'm totally puzzled though, because my stranded cat5 doesn't yet it's in a virtually identical box and made by the...
Hi all, this should be a nice easy one for ya...
What is the best quick & easy way to measure cable from a reel?
For example, I have a boxed reel of Cat5 cable, and someone comes along and asks me to make an eight metre long cable, what's a good rule of thumb (I don't want to reach for a tape...
No problem, and good luck with the 750 Dells.
I don't think Novell do much testing on Dell machines, which is a shame because they're all our company will buy. Zenworks works a treat with GX260s running windows XP, but to this day I can't get all the Zenworks stuff to run on windows 2000 Dells...
Use this free bit of software to split the image file into manageable chunks across several discs, then at the other end copy the contents of all the disks to one location on the server and run the file joining batch file that the splitting program created.

Hi all.
Was wondering if anyone else had noticed this....
A while ago we've upgraded from zfd3 to zfd4 (got most parts working OK but not had much time to spend with it unfortunately), and think it's great, but one of my most used features seems to have disappeared...
I can't find how to 'Ping...
Yes, it is essentially just a long patch cable using stranded cable.
There are only three users on this hub, and the cabins don't actually belong to us (its a joint venture), so we can't do much in the way of installing wall sockets etc., this is really just a small-scale temporary patch job...
Thanks for the replies.
I know for sure that it is a cabling issue, not configuration. The computers used in our site offices are laptops, so can easily be moved around. Last time I was on site, I tried a couple of different laptops, in different locations. They both work fine on a...
The problem I have is that I am based at head office, and the site in question is quite a long way away, so I can only get over there myself on a limited basis. I have asked an end user at that end to try unplugging the wireless box, but am still waiting a response on that (trouble is it is an...
Could signals from a Wireless networking (802.11b) hub cause interference with nearby cat5 cabling?
I have a cat5 cable which runs right next to a 3com wireless hub, and am having problems with the cable link: The cable tests OK on cable testers, and gives a link light in the back of the PC...
ZfD4 (see first word of original post!?)
I've applied all the latest patches up to patch 3 but didn't work.
Actually read somewhere about it being caused by having a base image that was taken from a manufacturers (Dell in this case) rollout image.
I FDISK'd and rebuilt the machine from scratch...
Zfd4 imaging formats the partition and starts to push the image down, copies about two files then exits with the above error code in red.
Also below it says imaging exited with error: 200 but there is no reference to this on the Novell site.
Any ideas?
Eventually figured out how to switch on the PXE in the DELL BIOS.
On this batch, under the 'Integrated Devices' menu there is a Network Controller, the options for it are 'On', 'Off', and 'On w/PXE'
Big congratulations go to DELL for hiding it so very well
HELP!!!
I'm so frustrated at the moment trying to get a way for imaging to work!!!
I've got a batch of 10 brand new PCs (DELL Optiplex GX260), I've spent all day configuring the first one perfectly ready to take an image of it and push that on to the other 9, simple right?
Wrong!
Dell BIOS...
At our company, we have a mixed bag of workstations running platforms Windows 98se, NT4, and 2000pro.
All of the above have the latest Novell client installed (c3.32sp1 or c4.83sp1 respectively), and log in to several Novell servers, with several mapped drives. Our main server is a brand new...
