ok....as per my previous post....my windows xp partition wont recognize the partition i have set up to be the major data sharing partition on my hard drive after i did some partitioning operations with partition magic. so...im thinking of reinstalling windows xp and hopefully the new install...

ps.....make sure you use the 80 wire cable suplied...a 40 wire cable wont work on an ata100 drive. also make sure the slave is in the middle of the cable and the master is at the end...and that all connections are secure

i think smah is pointing you in the correct direction on newer drives from wd....cable select is the default configuration pins 1+2 a single drive would be pins 4+6 a dual drive setup on one ide channel would use pins 5+6 for master pins 3+4 make it a slave hope this helps! peace
