T20i just means an INTERNAL T20 tape drive, as opposed to the T20e, which is the EXTERNAL model. There was also a T20xai which was an IDE version of the T20. As for the error numbers, no clue, never seen Replica.
Chances are that a DDS3 drive won't recognize a DDS4 tape, there is all sorts of information at the beginning of tape to help the hardware identify what type of tape it is.
cuda45, the process you described is how to perform OBDR (One Button Disaster Recovery.) That is not the normal process to eject the tape after a backup. If I knew what it was at this point I'd tell you, but I don't. I'll see if I can figure it out in a bit.
As far as I know, HP's line of Travan drives were named Colorado, probably because their head office for Data Storage is in Colorado.
According to HP's website, the DT-740 part number refers to this:
MC3000XL tape cartridge with QIC-3010-MC format - 340MB native capacity - Package contains 1...
Has this unit ever worked properly? Sounds like it might be a hardware configuration issue or maybe just blank checkbox that needs an X in it somewhere in the software. I would suggest contacting Compaq technical support and speaking with one of their agents to help you resolve this issue...
Monty, yes, you should add the individual users to the OU. That's the whole point of the OU, is to Organize resources into smaller units (avoiding using the word group here to avoid confusion.)
Don't forget that Group Policies are applied in the LSDOU model, so make sure you apply the...
oops, sorry Bronto, missed the part obout dfs shares. Thanks Jeff for going into a little more detail for me.
I appreciate everyone's patience in explaining things to me, even when they are not my questions.
You guys are like my teachers that I can go to with questions :)
I still have lots to...
haha, you like that huh?
So 9.x clients do not need a computer acount in AD? However they still authenticate with a user account? (I've yet to read up on the whole security and authentication chapters - kerberos, handshaking, etc.)
Can 9.x clients still access shares within the domain?
2000...
Are you sure? Then why would they make AD Client extensions? From my understanding, you need a computer account as well as a user account to log onto a Windows 2000 native domain, and with the AD Client Extensions for Win9.x you are able to create a computer account.
Bronty?
yeah, actually that makes a lot of sense hewissa; with security becoming increasingly essential to the survival of a network, I think the idea of a separate password would be a great way to go.
Thank you bronty and hewissa so much for the help on clarifying this issue for me.
Okay, so it can be any password then as long as both domains are using the same one, and it doesn't have to be the password of the domain admin...
When do you have to supply the admin account info? After you click OK or Apply on the Trusts property page? Or after you enter this notorious...
Okay guys, I'm real sorry about this, it's going to seem really lame. I'm reading up on 2000 because I want to start studying for my MCSE. I studied it a bit in school, but the course was a very basic overview, and I am now in the process of reading the whole text book they suggested we buy...
Hey man, I have no ideas, but I just wanted to let you know that is one of the most entertaining posts I've read in a while! Haha, play solitaire all day....
I understand your frustration however, it always seems to be us young IT prospects that have these great ideas on how to improve some...
Correction, CBII is available on HP's website.
Use 9.0 for Win2k
9.1 for ME
8.0 for 95/98
You can try to use 9.0 on XP with an INTERNAL drive only, but is not supported.
Here's a link that can help you decode your error code...
