It's probably more reads than writes, maybe 2 to 1.
I realise there's not much you can do with 6 disks!
I'm OK with disk space, so RAID10 is no problem.
SQL 2005 running on Win2003 with 6 disks.
Anyone got ideas as to the best RAID setup? eg
2 disk Raid1 & 4 disk Raid5
Three 2 disk Raid1
Two 3 disk Raid5?
Thanks!
thovorka - the DL380 G3 has two 64-bit, 100Mhz PCI-X slots and one 64-bit, 133MHz PCI-X slot. You can use a PCI card in a PCI-X slot so long as it is 3.3V (slot near front of card). You can also use a 32-bit card in a 64bit slot - so don't worry that it seems too short!
The ML370 G3 has six...
Well if you believe what I was told by Belkin then yes. I am a bit surprised that they don't advertise that fact though! (On their web site that card supports Windows® 98 SE, Me, 2000, OS, or XP with USB 2.0 support). You could send them an email asking the same and, if it doesn't work, you...
I couldn't get that card. I think I ended up getting this one:

Works just fine.
Although, after buying the card, i got an email from Belkin telling me their cards work with Windows 2003.

Thanks for that! I had seen that site but, according to the Adaptec web site, it doesn't support Windows 2003! (Although I think this card is in the Windows 2003 HCL). Maybe I should just buy it and try it out!
Thanks for the quick reply ShackDaddy. I have seen that huge list before (http://www.slipstick.com/addins/housekeeping_admin.asp is the list for server side utils not Outlook). I was just interested if people had already evaluated some of these and are now using one of them.
I already have GFI...
Anyone know of a (reasonably priced) program for Exchange server that can remove attachments from email and replace them with a link or stub? I have seen products from C2C & Sherpa. Anybody used these or others for this purpose?
Thanks
Richard
I am looking to get an ISDN line to connect 2 companies for the purpose of sending files (securely). What cheap hardware is good for connecting the ISDN line to a computer. I don't have a router here, so getting a Cisco card is not an option! There are some USB connected devices on the market -...
Thanks for the replies.
58sniper - 3 raid 1 arrays - not a bad idea!
As for environment...I currently have four 36GB in Raid5, so about 100GB usable and it's nearly full (about 70GB file shares and 20GB email). I am thinking of buying six 73GB disks. I would like to buy more but am restricted...
I have an SBS 2003 server currently set up with 4 x 36GB disks in a single (hardware based) RAID 5 array. The Exchange server is heavily used and we are also running low on disk space. I am thinking of buying 6 disks (maximum the server will take) and setting up the RAID again. Any idea what...
Have you tried DriveSnapshot? http://www.drivesnapshot.de/en/news.htm
Should do what you want and is cheap too. They have a free download to test it out.
