Access Form Field BackColor Property
Easiest way I have found to do this, is to use conditional format, under the format menu. Set field has focus as the condition, then select a colour- sstray

Thanks for the thought FancyPrairie. Perhaps I was not too clear with my requirements. The first 9 controls need to be available for new records (Add), thereafter, they should be "read only". The last control needs to be avaliable at all times (Edit). I can set the properties for...- sstray
