Very interesting thread here.
I for one, prefer the Microsoft products, because of the seamless application functionality. It makes myself and others in my company more productive.
Not to mention, most apps and games I want to run are for MS OS's.
As far as the bugs go, they (M$) post fixes...
SQL brings up a good point. I would also want the director's request to me in writing for backup to CMA. In todays workplace, it has become nearly impossible to fire someone without legal ramificatons, even if the employee's work is sub-par. Your director may simply be wanting to cover his own...
I am not a lawyer, but I would guess in your example of a lawyer and client, and a customers data was compromised to a hacker or rogue employee etc. without proper securities in place, then a lawsuit would be filed and won.
Provided of course, the client suffered in some way as a result of the...
Not only am I still shaking my head on this particular story, I now find myself shaking my head on this thread.
The master/slave relationship between IDE devices is not referring to race, creed, color, or origin of humans. It is referring to the relationship between two inanimate objects.

This thread, and the tone by the one needing help, is starting to remind me of a thread Bcastner started in the ethics forum entitled "when do you stop giving advice?"

Isn't it 5:00PM yet?
I had read this story earlier in the day, and I am still shaking my head over it.
This whole thing makes me wonder what would happen if these people would spend their time and energies trying to change something that affects the majority, and not just a few. All of this "political...
Might I add, when/if you go with the wired solution, then run a couple redundant lines through the conduit when you lay it. This will help aleviate some of the "what if the cable gets damaged" concerns.

From my experiences with the latest NVIDIA drivers, first you need to uninstall the current NVIDIA set, reboot (which will put you in VGA mode) Then install the latest NVIDIA.
The update instructions I read prior to sucsessfuly updating my machine said as much in them.
First time around I got...
Good morning Jules,
I am currently on my w2k machine and can't remember exactly how to get to it in XP, but go to XP's help and search for firewall.
XP has a built in firewall and comes out of the box enabled.
This will need to be disabled.
Also make sure you have file and print sharing...
Murray,
Do you know how long it is before that happens? I honestly can't remember if I activated my new computer's OS or not.
I believe I did, because that is the way I always work, but I can't be for sure at the moment. I have however installed all of the updates since the purchase 1st of May...
Diskeeper lite is actually the bundled defrag program included with W2K and XP.
Start--->Programs--->Accessories---->System Tools--->Disk defragmenter
Good luck, and Happy Computing
I am currently on a W2k machine and can't remember the location, but if you go to windows help, and search for firewall, it will tell you how to disable XP's internal firewall. It comes out of the box set to block access.
Good luck, and Happy Computing

It is most likely due to the practice of HP and Compaq putting a lot of proprietary components in their systems.
Those two computer makers' hardware doesn't play nice with other peoples a lot of the time.
By the way, Compaq is owned by HP.
Good luck, and Happy Computing
deffinitely go with the p-3. If you have to pay more than 2 or 3 hundred for it though, you would be better off buying one of the new budget pc's. You can get a brand new pc these days for 500 or less, and they will well outperform most of the p3's you would find.
Also, they will be able to...
In folder options, make sure "show hidden files and folders"
is checked. The 'send to' folder is one of the items that gets hidden.
Good luck, and Happy Computing
I would recommend a scan for viruses, and spyware. You can get a trial copy of AdsGone or spybot at downloads.com
You can get a trial copy of McAfee or Nortons there too.
Good luck, and Happy Computing
Did you make sure file and print sharing in enabled on all three machines?
Also, do you have at least one thing shared on each of the machines other than the default system shares?
Good luck, and Happy Computing
