    I tried to reset the BIOS to 'Load Setup Bios'; nothing changed. I tried to remove the secondary IDE controller from device manager, and got a message that said the device was part of a multi-function device and could not be removed independently. I would have to remove the parent device too...

    My son clicked on the enable dma check box under the settings tab in the Win/98 device manager. Win/98 told him he'd have to re-boot for the changes to take effect. When he did, Windows ka-poofed the burner from its list of devices. I've tried 'add new hardware'. No luck. Windows does not...
