You have to map yor network drive in the Pocket PC file explorer before the shared folders will be accessible.
When you open explorer you should see the icon for your PC.
Tap/hold on it to see the Map option.

You are smart because you ask. Its been a while since I used DOS but here goes.
In DOS
Type
Dir/p
to get a pape by page listing of files
Type
CD/?
to get attributes that will allow you to move from one directory to another
Type
copy/?
to get a listing of copy attributes for copying files from...
Try reinstalling the same program and then repeat the uninstall process.
If that does not work you can edit the registry to remove traces of the software. However if you are familiar with the registry I would suggest extreme caution.

IF you can see the files in DOS try copying them them to your new drive using DOS Copy commands. It should work.

I own both Diskeeper and PerfectDisk.
I have found PerfectDisk to be faster and more efficient and has more options.
Though I suspect each has its fans. THe bundled lite version is slow.

As bcastner said eventsvc is an application error reporting tool to MS .
I personally have disabled this service since it uses memory/resources.
If you do choose to disable it use services.msc (type in the run command box).

Try this since you have a new HD.
1)disconnect your old drive (power connector should do it)
2)Install the new drive (as master)
3)Install WinXP Pro on the new drive.
4)Once WinXp is running fine connect the old drive as slave to your master. (adjust any bios boot settings if necessary)
5)Reboot...
Start your TaskManager (Ctrl.Alt.Del)and click on the processes Tab.
It will show you which process is using the CPU.
Try highlighting and ending the process (use end process button).
Reply with the offending process if this works and you need help in identifying the source of the process...
Use the device explorer and got to Windows/start menu.
Cut/paste all shortcuts to a new folder in a more obscure location. Goto Windows/Start Menu/Programs and repeat.
The other users will have to get creative to locate the actual programs using explorer to find and click on the exec files...
