    If it looks like a switch, with a router blade, it is hybrid. If the whole gosh darn thing looks like a router, including fast ethernet ports, it is Native. So try a show ip interface brief from the router, and if fastethernet ports show up, its Native. If only VLANs and WAN links show up, its not.

    Try: aaa authentication login default tacacs+ local aaa authentication enable default tacacs+ enable but you have to have a local account already set up and an enable password/secret set. The syntax might be off since I did this on a different router.

    You can make your changes in a text file, TFTP the file to the startup-config, then reload. You have to be VERY CAREFUL with this, since the only backout is through the console port. A reload is not going to help, since you have changed the startup config.
