Now I seem to have encountered another/separate problem.
I tried doing an ipconfig command, and when I input the run command, the command window immediately appears -- and then quickly fades away/disappears. The whole process takes less than a second.
How can I successfully open the command...
Thanks for all your suggestions. I haven't had time to try all of them yet.
BTW, I am running Vista on the Dell laptop with which I am having this problem. The new IBM laptop (which is running Windows 7) continues to work perfectly with my wireless network.
When I power-off the DSL modem and...
My Dell laptop has always worked fine with my Netgear wireless router. Yesterday the laptop stopped connecting with the Internet. I restarted, and it started getting the Internet again. Then after and hour, I lost the Internet access again. The laptop is still receiving a very strong signal...
It's WPA. I'm sorry. My error.
That makes sense -- about the wireless devise drivers, etc. When you say "wireless device," do you mean the wireless router -- or the wireless laptop?
Yes. I thought of that as well.
However, I'm not very good with wireless networks. I usually have trouble hooking anything up to my wireless system -- for all sorts of different reasons. It's time consuming and frustrating.
I just thought if I could get a definitive answer first, I...
I was told that my 11 year-old IBM A22m W2000 Pro ThinkPad laptop will not work on my home wireless network. I was told that W2000 can't deal with WAP or WAP2 encription.
Is this true?
I use an old Linksys wireless card w/the the laptop -- that works fine at Starbucks Wifi's, etc.
I have...
I've also just now discovered that my Word program will not open a new document window. In fact, it won't open anything. It just creates the small tab in the task bar down at the bottom of the screen. It does that same thing as Outlook -- with the brief maximize/flash across the screen -- then...
Oh. Sorry. I get it. Yes, I tried left clicking the tab. It flashes briefly, expanding quickly across the screen, like it's going to open/maximize a new window -- but nothing appears. When I click the tab again, it flashes briefly again and the "unopened" window appears to again fash across...
This is (getting?) worse than I thought. I just noticed that I can't even open a brand new window to start a fresh new email. When I click the "New" button, the same little flash/jump occures on the screen (and a new "window tab" appears in the task bar at the bottom of the screen) -- but I...
I'm at my computer now -- and I noticed it's Outlook 2003, not 2007. How time flies! Anyway, I tried the "Detect and Repair -- under the "Help" drop-down," but it didn't fix the problem.
Thanks though. Any other ideas?
I've been successfully using my Outlook 2007 for 3 years on my XP/Dell 4600 desktop.
Starting last week, everytime I try to open a new message (or any message in my inbox), the full window containing that message will not open. I can see the message(s) in the preview window. But when I select...
My 9+ year-old IBM A22 ThinkPad recently started refusing to boot-up, and would instead display the BIOS screen. I would re-set the time/date each time -- and then it would boot-up properly.
I bought a new CMOS battery and installed it. However, the computer still is opening with the BIOS...
It works fine in safe mode. No "flickering" problems w/the monitor in safe mode. So I guess the problem is definitely not w/the monitor. Correct?
As far as the other ideas -- I didn't make any changes in any of the display settings/updates/hardware/drivers prior to the problem with the monitor...
My Dell desktop has worked fairly flawlessly for about 4 years. A few days ago the original 18" LCD Dell monitor has begun to flicker badly. The screen goes black, but the monitor never lose power. It just goes black for about a second or two (it's a "long" one-second flicker; not a...
I just downloaded and installed the Windows SP3 Service Pack 3 update blocker tool. (At least I think I did. There's a new "SPBlockingTool.exe" file in my folder and when I click on it, a black background window says, "Action Successfully Completed. How can I tell for sure that the blocking...
I purchased, installed and upgraded from NIS 2004 to NIS 2006 a couple months ago.
It’s been working fine. However, last week I’ve started to get a pop-up window that appears every time I start the computer or open a new application (for instance Outlook).
The pop-ups are as follows:
First a...
