I just had this problem on oone of my networked XP pc connected to a w2k server. I deleated the user that had the problem the recreated the user. thepc with the corrupt file error fixed fine.the other xp workstation loaded the new user into a new profile. I will just copy over the old profile.
I have this problem periotically on an XP Pro pc on my local lan.
log on as administrator copy your profile to the desktop then
delete your profile from system properties user profile then log back in creating new profile then go back to administrator
copy old profile into new
done
