I have a SharePoint 2010 page that contains a simple web part. The web part is targeted to a specific audience using a SharePoint group. The audience targeting works as expected.
If I log on to this site as an administrator that is not a member of the audience group and then I activate "edit...
The DC2 server was the first server constructed in this new site (Site 2). Following it were FILE2 and a WSUS server. It was only after the infrastructure servers were in place that I began creating the application servers WEB2, SQL2, etc.
The TCP stack of the servers in Site 2 uses DC2 as the...
Thanks for getting back to me.
I think it must have something to do with Active Directory. Like I said, there is no restriction on traffic between WEB2 and DC2. The restriction is between WEB2 and DC1. This connection is not allowed, but it is automatically attempted. This is evidenced by...
Thanks for the suggestions.
When I do the set l command, it shows that my logon server is DC2, which is correct. However, I still did not get all my GPOs.
When running tracert domain.ad it shows that the route is indeed going through the ASA. As far as I know, no ACLs exist yet.
Telnet to DC2...
Okay, the attachment should explain a little better than I am...
Site 2 is the new site, where WEB2 and SQL2 cannot get resources from Active Directory. I think this is because they are trying to query DC1 in SITE 1 for sysvol and the DFS shares, instead of querying DC2 in SITE 2. This is...
I think you're sort of right. After a little more investigating, I've turned up some new information.
On one hand, it's possible that the VLANs cannot communicate with broadcast traffic, because that traffic is not allowed to cross interfaces on the ASA that connects the VLANs together. This...
I would suggest that you just create a syslog server instead. Redirect the logs to the syslog server, and then you can set the local event logs to overwrite instead of archive.
Recently, we extended our Active Directory to include a second site. Initially, I did not configure the sites and services with the new subnets in this site, and I also did not configure the reverse lookup zones for each of these subnets. After realizing this mistake, I configured them and...
I have just set up a new 2008 server with Terminal Services. I would like to use RemoteApp and TS Web Access with a view to replacing Citrix. From what I can see, I will be able to do this, but there's one thing I can't figure out how to do.
In Citrix, I can configure permissions for each...
I have a Windows 2003 R2 server that hosts DFS. In the main namespace there are multiple targets pointing to folders on the server. These same folders are also available via FTP through IIS.
Now, the problem I'm having is that someone previously put some kind of special folders in each FTP...
Sniper,
I know you can explicitly add a user or a group of users to the server level, but if one of those users is a Domain Admin, wouldn't the deny permission inherited from above take precedence because it is the most restrictive security setting?
Nicolas,
Thanks for the info. I will try that.
I need to know how to change the security permissions in Exchange System Manager so that Domain Admins have full access to all domain users' mailboxes. At the server level, the security permissions are inherited from the parent, but I can't find the parent level above the servers. All other...
Hello all.
Here's what I've got. I have a bunch of .URL files in my Favorites folder. I have to go to these links once a day so that I can copy the charts that they generate. The problem is that the links are static, whereas I need to change the URL slightly every day. The URL contains a...
Here's my problem...
Users are being prompted to save passwords in IE for our new web app. This is bad, as their passwords are supposed to change every 30 days. User training for IE is not an option. We already have a GPO in place to prevent the saving of new web forms, but the existing...
My boss has tasked me with finding information on the new capabilities for delegating control in 2003 R2. If someone could point me toward some info, I would appreciate it.
I have a VBScript that is supposed to create a local TCP/IP printer port and then create a printer on that port. Here is my script...

Duane, the change that you suggested worked just fine except for one very tiny thing. At the end of the report, an error message pops up and says "No Current Record" and the last page of the report shows two fields called #Error.
Any suggestions on that?
