Thanks for your input, I think you are probably right, I was only running it temporarily with 32mb on the second machine (my other has 128!). As you'd expect, the machine with 32mb was painfully slow!
Thanks for your help. I have tried both the things you suggest, I've reinstalled win 2000 completely twice, as well as reinstalling TCP/IP. I installed the servicepack on both machines with no luck. If I ping one machine from the other it works fine at first, then once I go back and browse files...
I should add I get the same problem whether I use Netbui or TCP/IP. Internet sharing and printer sharing seems to work fine, it's just file transfering that doesn't seem to work properly.
