I sometimes upload/download large files using ftp and after a while my computer slows down so much I have to reboot, after which everything's fine.
I've gone over it for spyware/viruses and there's nothing wrong and there's nothing unnecessary in startup.

I'm not using Yahoo/SBC either and have often found certain pages with an annoying little red cross using IE but the mysql link did load the pictures for me. Anyway, I use Opera too along with IE and Opera has no problems!

it's a free program and you can copy & paste selections of mp3, apart from other features like normalising.
I found WSFTP LE doesn't resume on uploads (only downloads = that's why it's a Limited Edition!).
Another freeware alternative is AceFTP3 from:

but with this one (while v. good) the limitation is you can't manipulate the queue.
I'd recommend using Socks4/5 Ad Blocker, free download of only 90 kb from http://www.webattack.com/get/sab.shtml which is a proxy server that filters ads, java and more. It's also possible to restore I.E. configuration from its options if you want to stop using it.
After tiring of the long time it takes to run defrag, especially since I work with a lot of large wave files, I've been using Diskeeper Lite (free download) for the past month or so, even with the antivirus resident, and is very fast. I use it nearly daily and it only takes a few minutes.
