Hi guys,
I am having problems with SCSI resets on my backup server. I have two MSL6030 attached to the server via a Ultra 320 controller. Each library has one drive.
The backups are failing due to I/O errors. Here's what I get in event viewer. Does anyone have any idea what maybe is causeing...
The media server is told what to do by the master server"
Yeah that's correct. We have servers offshore and they need to be master servers rather than Media servers becasue if the comms are down the job wouldn't run.
We have just purchased an Ultrium 960 drive with a 400/800GB capactiy. The Diff's are only 40Gb a night so I was hoping to use just one tape Monday-Fri for the Diff's then a seperate tape for Full? but still have the ability to recover Monday's data on a Thursday for example, rather than only...
Hi guys,
I am used to Netbackup 5.1, so hoping you can help me here.
I need to create a generic account in Backup exec which anyone can use to login to Backup Exec, but still there own ID to logon to the server. Everything I try results in a "Access Denied" message.
I could create an ID...
Here's more detail from the log, maybe it makes sense to someone.

Hi,
Hope you can help.
I am having problems with an internal HP DLT VS80 tape drive. It's not working in Veritas Netbackup, it detects the drive but won't read the tapes. The server is a HP Proliant ML350 G4
So I installed the Library and tape tools to see what's going on. It also detects...
I know this isn't strictly a "SureStore" problem, but I am hoping you can help or point me in the right direction. Many thanks.

Excellent, thanks very much for that.
We did our first disk staging at the weekend around 1.8TB. It worked a treat, although a little slow copying it to tape, took almost 48 hours. But that's because it was using one tape drive. I found a solution which may be of benefit to others...
Thanks for clearning that up.
So when the next weekend comes around it will automatically remove the old image to make room for the new backup then promote the tape to the primary. So basically I only need to do something when I manaually delete an image.
Graeme
hmmm, found this on the Veritas help
"The image exists on both the disk staging unit as well as the final destination storage unit until the disk staging storage unit is full. The image on the disk storage unit continues to be the primary image until it is expired or removed, after which the...
Thanks guys
"Are you sure that the image had successfully been migrated to tape before you deleted the file? "
Yeah, I can see the image on the "Media Contents" report.
"you must promote the tape to primary copy before the restore."
Ah ok. However will this mean the backup goes to tape...
Just tried it again on a file which hadn't expired....

Hi,
Firstly, I am running Netbackup 5.1 MP3 in a Windows 2003 Server environment.
I am currently testing disk staging and having a few problems with restores\getting my head around it.
Currently we keep our tapes on a 4 weekly rotation, however the disk copy will only be there for one week...
* NetBackup 5.1 MP3 on a Windows 2003 Server
I have sucessfully setup my backups to backup to disk. So the next stage is for the Full jobs to backup to disk and then onto tape once that has finshed.
I have configured disk staging within the Storage Unit section. I have then changed policy to...
I have upgraded the firmware for both MSA20 and the server (DL360). I have also upgraded to Windows 2003 SP1 since it now supports logical drives larger than 2TB, but still nothing. Any ideas?
Graeme
I have a fully populated HP MSA20 disk shelf with 3TB of SATA drives (12*250GB)
The maximum logical drive size I can create is 2097151MB or approx 2TB.
Is there anyway around this? I require the full 3TB minus 250GB for Raid 5.
Thanks in advance
Graeme
Hoping you guys can help or point me in the right direction.
I am migrating my Netbackup server to a new server. It will be same version (5.1MP3) and same operating system (2003 server).
I understand because of the Catalog that the server will need to have the same name, is this correct, if...
Just about ready to roll out Office 2003 SP1 to around 1000 users and just noticed something that doesn't work.
If you run a slide show and try and change the pointer by right clicking > pointer options > highligher it doesn't work. None of the options do, the arrow remains. I have tried...
