Tnx mainegeek for responding.
Doubtful it was a cmos setting problem as I had the same issue using 2 different pcs.
Some good news tho - after a couple of "technician's thumps" I finally managed to get the bios recognizing the corrupted hard drive. Booted it up as a slave to a good master...
Have been setting up a new 80Gb Western Digital HDD for a friend. Original 8Gb drive had Win98SE. New HDD was set up as slave to the original master at this stage.
The plan was to copy the original Win98SE drive to one partition as a backup, use another for a fresh install of WIN XP HOME and...
Tnx for responding. Re the possible hardware issues: will get around to checking them out shortly, but firstly let me reply to your other q's.
When accessed via My Computer it will run for as long as needed - no probs at all. Works just fine.

I am using Windows 98 2nd Edition. When I open Windows Explorer, I can only get as far as clicking on a folder before it automatically shuts down. I can click on a file without any trouble. I can also navigate from folder to folder using the keyboard, but only for a few seconds or so before it...
Hi Terminader
I found a solution. After failing to get any helpful support with this prob, and reading reviews and articles on antivirus software, I bought PC-Cillin 2003! Like it heaps better than NAV. Support seems OK, initial cost wasn't much more than the NAV upgrade (which was Norton's...
Tnx for that smah.

Tnx shyber1 for the condolences. Am seriously considering the change-over option. Am totally unimpressed with norton's support. I just can't believe that I can't find a solution to a problem that so many other people have also had (from what I've read in posts all over the place).
Tnx too...
Tnx for the input. Much appreciated.
However, I can't even get Norton Antivirus to open properly let alone select an option! When I try to run it, nothing appears to happen - it still shows NAVAPSVC.exe under Processes in the Close Program box tho nothing seems to be running under Applications...
Using WinXP. Have been using NAV 2002 for 6 mths no probs. Other day after booting up NAV icon was missing from systray and Auto-Protect apparently disabled.
Uninstalled and reinstalled - worked OK. Used LiveUpdate, rebooted and same problem again!
When I go to Close Program box it doesn't...
