Convert Record Format of File
Give FILE.DAT is your file: $ set file/attr=(lrl:13) file.dat might help. (but make a safe copy first, just in case ;-) There are more attributes you may need to set; take a look at HELP SET FILE/ATTRIB Willem- WillemGrooters

DOES OPEN VMS V 7-2.1 SUPPORT IDE DEVICES?
Not completely true, but if you mean "from 7.0 on" you're correct. Newer versions may even be able to read (*and write) some IDE-disks. (DS10 does) Beware however that support of CD-ROM (and disk) may depend on firmaware version (you should have the latest) and CD-ROM type. Not all CD-ROMS are...- WillemGrooters

OpenVMS sync ASCII DNS files
Sorry, just back... Not sure but I know you can setup a DNS Client. I would guess you have one or more servers where you mainatin the files, the rest (being clients) would retrieve updates once in a while. If you use VMS as a DHCP server, be sure to allow DNS updates by those machines. That...- WillemGrooters
