You can make your own DB-9 or DB-25 null modem cable but, for 50 $ Canadian dollars and less time spending in "gossage", you can buy 2 cheap Ethernet cards and a crossover cable to link that together.
Oftenly, a right and updated driver for your modem can resolved the situation.
Example: With a LTWin Modem or a Motorola SM56, it's vital to have an updated driver!
