    try running /usr/lbin/modprpw -w "" root this should null the password and when you do passwd root it should not ask you for the password Hope this helps

    Cheers Rudi Yes you are right after I posted I checked the graphics card and found it set too high so changed it to a resolution supported by the tft screen and all is now fine.

    We are setting up new server, hardware and software we have installed AIX 4.3.3 and ML 10.We have a new 7316-TF2 rack mounted monitor running through an APEX switch supplied by IBM we keep getting video mode not supported on the screen when we try to use it Any Ideas why ???
