Both responses assume some things, but are very helpful, but could you state how I would know I was "From the Supervisor", since this is part of the original problem of not knowing where the telnet session has brought me (IOS or CatOS side, which may more correctly be stated as Sup or MFSC)...
If I telnet into a Cisco switch:
